Step-by-step instructions on how to download Telegram to your phone
To use the Telegram application using a mobile device, you will need a smartphone with Android or iOS (iPhone) operating system. In both cases, the installation will not take much time.
On Android
There are two ways to install Telegram on Android: from the app store and by downloading a file with the .apk extension for further manual installation. Both methods are described below.
Via Google Play or App Gallery
The safest way to install apps on your Android phone is through the app store. HUAWEI smartphones use App Galley, other Android devices use Google Play most often.
- Open the Google Play app (or App Gallery) on your smartphone.In the search bar, enter Telegram and click on the magnifying glass icon (search button).
- From the proposed options, select Telegram from the publisher Telegram FZ-LLC.A page with a description of the application and a download button will open.
- Click on the "Download" button.The application download process should begin.
- Wait for the download and installation to finish.After that, a Telegram launch icon will appear on the main screen (or in the main phone menu).
You can open one of the links below from your phone to skip points 1 and 2 in the instructions and automatically go to the desired page in the app store.
From the official website
This method is suitable if there is no app store on your smartphone or you want to install a version of Telegram that has fewer restrictions

- Click on the "Download Telegram" buttonThe download of the installation file with the apk extension will begin.
- After downloading, open the file.This can be done either through a browser pop-up notification or by going to the "Downloads" folder on your phone through the "File Manager" application ("Explorer")
- If you have never opened apk files to install applications, you may be asked to allow installation from an insecure source.Click "Yes" or "Allow".
- The installation will begin.The phone will issue an installation request, click "Install". After confirmation, the installation process will continue until the message "Telegram application is installed"
On iOS via the App Store
Now let's look at how to download Telegram on iPhone. You can click on this link from your phone, after which you will immediately go to the Telegram page in the App Store (and go to step 3 of the instructions). You can also find it in the store yourself:
- Open the App Store, click on the "Search" button.Enter Telegram in the search bar and click on the search button.
- Select the Telegram application from the publisher "Telegram FZ-LLC" from the list of found applications.It should be the first on the list.
- Click on the "Download" button.The phone may ask you to confirm your identity via FaceID or password. Next, the application will be downloaded and installed.
- After installation, the Telegram icon will appear on the main screen.
